Antal's line of V-Grip rope clutches is an excellent option for line management on your sailboat. Clutch selection has become critical as today's high-tech lines are capable of carrying much higher loads in smaller diameters than what was previously available. As running rigging gets upgraded, a review of your clutches is also recommended. The high load-capacity-to-diameter ratio of Dyneema, Vectran and Technora cored lines reduces the amount of surface area available to hold the line, meaning a rough holding surface has a higher likelihood of damaging the cover of the line. Antal's V-Grip clutches seek to reduce the damage to your line without sacrificing holding power by increasing the surface area of the cam itself, so it can spread the holding load over more of the line cover. Its really a pleasure to be able to view some of the technical capabilities of Spinlock. Seen on the new Gunboat 66 and new Alegre are thesenew carbon padeyes PD6/C, PD8/C, PD10/C and PD12/C.

Constructed from a single loop of 17-4PH stainless steel with no welds, giving excellent strength to weight ratio, Spinlock PD/C Pad Eyes use a stainless steel collar in the laminate area to increase the bearing area  helping minimise the tearing effect suffered by standard pad eyes in cored decks, as well as improved shock loading resistance. This increase in diameter through the collars also reduces the requirement for local reinforcement in the deck area, furthering weight reduction. With their one piece design, the PD/C are able to work efficiently with horizontal loadings, with SWL load 20% above other designs.

Harken 75 mm Black Magic® AirBlocks® feature Torlon® roller bearings for strength and reduced wear. The unique center cage separates rollers for less friction. Sideload ball bearings are protected by sculpted aluminum sideplates. Dissimilar metals are isolated to minimize corrosion. Low-load blocks use Delrin® rollers and type 316 stainless steel shackles.

Like all AirBlocks®, the three-way head swivels/locks in front/side positions. Blocks are easily disassembled with a single Allen wrench.

This operation will make the drum and then the anti-twist luff rope rotate. The luff rope transmits the rotation to the central furling rope. This will make the luff of the asymmetric Spinnaker furl from the center. The continuous line drum prevents the furling line from overriding. The furling line can be removed from the drum without any mechanical operation.

Wichard MX Shackles at Mauri Pro Sailing Store

	Wichard's new MX is a High Resistance halyard shackle fully forged in 17/4 PH stainless steel to take on the high loads. MX has been specifically designed for static load operations and can be used to replace the terminals on flying sail furlers (i.e. halyard block) or as a 2:1 purchase for your mainsail and is now available for you on Mauri Pro Sailing Store. Thanks to its unique design, the MX can excellently distribute the stresses and its particular shape enables it to perfectly position the line to avoid undue and excessive wear on the line.
The Wichard MX shackle can effectively replace the terminal of your flying sail furlers, especially the halyard block, by providing an outstanding strength/weight ratio. When luff tension is needed, it can be used to replace the halyard block on top swivel or to replace the lower terminal on spool (snap shackle etc.). Wichard have specifically designed the MX shackle to adapt itself to the heads of most mainsails. Thus it can be used in place of a 2:1 purchase on a mainsail halyard making it easier to tension the halyard and hoist the mainsail.

Ronstan Latest Launches at Mauri Pro Sailing

Ronstan is always developing new products to improve the sailor’s performance. This time, Ronstan has launched a new segment of furlers for free flying sails, the new RF45130 Orbit block with soft Dyneema loop becket and cam cleat, a spinnaker pole mast slide (ring type), new colour combinations for the c-cleat to easily code your control lines and a tough mini snap shackle ideal for halyards. The flying sail Ronstan Furlers are the result of an extended development program that have already been seen in action on number of high profile racing boats and have proven themselves to be extremely efficient and reliable. The Ronstan Spinnaker Pole Slide is the latest addition to the Series 25 T-Track range. It features a sleek, high performance composite construction. The grade 316 stainless steel ring and glass reinforced nylon body are designed for maximum strength. The ever-popular C-Cleats and accessories have had a facelift with new colour combinations, which Ronstan have introduced recently. Their "classic" C-Cleat with grey cap/grey base, and T-Cleat with red/grey base, will remain in production but the rest of the range has already changed to the new look.

The Ronstan Mini Snap Shackle is the latest addition to the range of fixed bail snap shackle. Stainless steel is used throughout for excellent corrosion resistance. It is only 32mm in length and weights 10g. Finally, Ronstan recently added the Orbit Block Series 40 BB single with a becket, cleat and swivel head (RF45130) to the popular S40 Orbit Block range. This new block is the same as the existing RF45131 with the only difference being the stainless steel swivel shackle head.

SPINLOCK: Built-In Digital Jaws for XX MK3

The XX0812 clutch is capable of holding and releasing loads up to 1800kgs. For 2010, the XX Mk3 has been re-engineered to exploit the very effective ‘Digital Jaw’ technology introduced this year (in the ZS Jammers) for holding blended-cover ropes.

Some of the latest performance ropes use polyester covers reinforced with high tensile Aramid, Technora or Dyneema fibre. The Mk3XX gives consistently excellent performance across the full spectrum of rope types and rigs, good for a 44’ X-Yacht up to a Grand Prix raceboat.

In developing the new XX gripping system, jaw weight has been reduced and jaw engagement and release reconfigured for minimal friction.
This helps streamline handling at the fast line speeds of 7+ metres/second now demanded for bigger race sail hoists using driven pit winches as in TP52 and Mini Maxi classes. A ‘straight-through’ rope alignment, parallel to the deck ensures neater side-mounting.

The Mk3 XX uses the clever ‘Grip Switch’ feature developed on the award-winning ZR Jammer. This ensures useful ‘hands-free’ protection for faster and more controlled winched release, say of asymmetric spinnaker sheets and mainsheets under full load. As with the ZR, ‘Release’ or ‘Lock’ modes are clearly indicated by the up or down position of the switch lever.

The new XX Digital Jaw set is removable in one piece for service and is available as an upgrade for existing Mk2 XX models.

Forespar: New Articulating Multihull Sprit Kit

The new Multihull Sprit Kit allows almost any multihull to fly a reaching spinnaker. It can be easily retrofitted to most multihulls to improve downwind performance by using reaching spinnakers and drifter sails. The aluminum sprit kit fits multihulls ranging from 25ft to 60ft.

Each sprit pole is specifically sized to match the boat and can be rigged to use with continuous line furling systems or custom configured. Depending on installation, the sprit pole can also be lifted up out-of-the-way or removed.

The Multihull Sprit Kit includes all parts necessary for installation except the stays. The kit comes with sprit pole, UTS cross bar bracket, end fitting and stainless steel tangs for stays. Clear anodized to military standards, the pole is made of 6063-T6 marine alloy.
